Action for Climate 2024
In addition to the national event CFC6 - Climbing for Climate, as usual, the RUS Universities are invited to organize widespread events to raise awareness among local communities about the effects of climate change.
Starting from 2024, these widespread events will be known as Action for Climate – 2024. The new name is intended to highlight the variety of locations and events involved. The initiatives will not necessarily take place in the mountains, but can be developed in various settings (sea, city, countryside, university campus, etc.) and may include various activities to raise awareness about the effects of climate change (walks, bike tours, conferences, clean-up activities, tree planting, etc.).
In general, preference will be given to areas and places where the effects of climate change are tangible, and the chosen destination will provide a theme for thematic in-depth discussions related to the climate and/or ecological crisis. Additionally, destinations that are easily accessible, preferably by train, or that allow for sustainable and shared transportation management, are favored. Alternatively, it is possible to organize a climate change awareness event within one's own university/city.
AFC is a national event aimed at raising public awareness at local, national, and international levels about the ongoing effects of climate change in light of the UN Agenda 2030 goals: combating climate change (SDG13), promoting life on land/protecting biodiversity (SDG15), promoting sustainable tourism (SDG8), promoting social and economic inclusion of those living in peripheral areas (SDG10), and supporting sustainable communities (SDG11).
The widespread initiatives of Action for Climate are sponsored by: CAI - Italian Alpine Club, CRUI - Conference of Italian University Rectors, CGI - Italian Glaciological Committee, MASE - Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, MUR - Ministry of University and Research, ASviS - Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development.
On this page, the various initiatives organized throughout Italy by RUS Universities that have accepted the invitation to participate are highlighted.
