GREEN FOOD WEEK 2024

During Green Food Week 2024, from February 5 to 9, Italian school canteens join forces to offer sustainable menus with dishes that have a lower environmental impact

Once again this year, the Universities Network for Sustainable Development with the Food Working Group (RUS Food) and the Climate Change Working Group (RUS CC), together with the crucial support of Andisu and the regional Right to Study Boards, is joining Green Food Week, a week promoted by Foodinsider, during which school, university and company cafeterias join together to offer sustainable menus, with dishes that have a lower environmental impact.

The participation of the Universities is designed to be a simple but effective way to approach more plant-based and sustainable food choices, which can become a positive eating habit for health, land and the environment, while also helping to mitigate the effects of global warming.

From the analysis conducted, the proposed green menu resulted in an average reduction of about 40% of CO2 equivalent compared to the traditional menu. Conscious choices in selecting environmentally friendly recipes allow even greater emission reductions.
