Climbing for Climate Second Edition
September 2020, 19th
The RUS, in collaboration with the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), organises the second edition of the Climbing for Climate event.
The second edition will be held nationwide and aims to promote the goals of the 2030 Agenda through knowledge of the territories and active mobility.
The RUS Delegates who intend to join the initiative are invited to organise an open hike for the referents on sustainable development issues of their university, in collaboration with the local CAI sections and possibly with other universities and local actors. The excursions will take place along CAI trails with a preference for the "Sentiero Italia CAI".
The initiative aims to raise local and national public awareness on the issues of the 2030 Agenda through a deeper knowledge of the territories in the light of the UN Goals, including those for promoting sustainable tourism (SDG 8), social and economic inclusion of those living in remote areas (SDG 10), support for sustainable communities (SDG 11), combating climate change (SDG 13) and promoting life on earth (SDG 15). During the event, the participating organisations will sign an appeal for the protection and enhancement of local natural and cultural heritage.
The event will be held on September, 19th. Besides the CAI, this edition of Climing for Climate sees the patronage of: Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare - MATTM, Comitato Glaciologico Italiano - CGI, Sustainable Development Solutions Network - SDSN. It is also included in the events of the Sustainable Developement Festival promoted by the Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile - ASviS.
