RUS Emilia Romagna

On October 8, 2024, the four universities of the Emilia Romagna region formally established the RUS Emilia Romagna Regional Subnetwork.

The regional articulation has the following objectives:

  • Promote collaboration and facilitate a more direct exchange of information about activities at the universities and within the RUS;
  • Develop initiatives to propose to the RUS Coordination Committee;
  • Encourage the involvement of the university community, faculty, administrative staff, and students through events, informational campaigns, and sustainability education initiatives on cross-cutting topics that are vital to achieving the Agenda 2030 goals, with the support of RUS Delegates and representatives from various Working Groups and Technical Tables;
  • Implement joint initiatives on a regional scale;
  • Support coordination and knowledge-sharing to carry out sustainability-oriented research and innovation projects;
  • Create synergies between universities, the business sector, third-sector entities, and public administrations to tackle environmental, social, and economic challenges in the area;
  • Share best practices, strategies, and innovative solutions for campus management aimed at decarbonization, circular economy, waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility;
  • Promote study and work environments grounded in values of inclusion, gender equality, and appreciation of individual diversity and potential;
  • Advance sustainability education within university teaching, schools (including orientation programs), and among citizens.

In addition to these general objectives, the network may focus on specific areas of interest for Emilia-Romagna, such as agri-food, energy, tourism and culture, air quality, and hydrogeological issues related to climate change.
