2024 Presentation of the Guidelines for Separate Collection of Packaging Waste and Other Urban Waste in Universities
On July 11th, at the University of Salerno, an open meeting will be held on the occasion of the publication of the final version of the Guidelines for Waste Separation in Universities, jointly drafted by RUS and CONAI (National Packaging Consortium).
The document, revised by the RUS Resources and Waste - Waste Separation Working Group (coordinator: Giovanni De Feo - University of Salerno, with the support of Elena Sezenna - Politecnico di Milano) together with CONAI (coordinator: Maria Concetta Dragonetto), taking into account the notes transmitted by the Representatives of the various Universities adhering to RUS last January, aims to provide useful information for proper separation (waste separation) of urban waste produced within Italian universities. Naturally, these Guidelines do not claim to exhaust all possible topics related to waste separation in universities, which may be the subject of subsequent in-depth studies. Furthermore, it is specified that the proposals contained in the document should be contextualized in relation to the specific reality of individual universities, verifying their applicability and effectiveness based on the available resources.
The Guidelines received the "Best Practice 2024" award in Rome on July 4th, during the 31st edition of Comuni Ricicloni, Legambiente's dossier that honors local entities for their green efforts. The recognition was awarded to the RUS Network, the University of Salerno, and Fisciano Sviluppo.
