EVENT


Loop trekking route, which from the center of Grassina develops on the nearby Fattucchia hill touching symbolic places of the territory and the centuries-old relationship between man and water: the launderers' district of Mestola, Villa il Riposo (formerly the country home of the Vecchietti family, which between 1587 and 1589 underwent a profound intervention by Giambologna), and above all the nearby Fonte di fata Morgana (or Nymphaeum of Giambologna), a unique example of garden architecture consisting of a system of pools, water features, fountains and wash-houses, built by Bernardo Vecchietti between 1571 and 1574 in honor of the famous Morgana, and now owned by the municipality.

THEMATIC FOCUS


Main focus of the path is: the secular and multifaceted relationship between man and water, an indispensable working tool and resource to be preserved and the protection of the natural environment.
