Climate Exp0

Climate Exp0, the conference organised by RUS in collaboration with COP26 Universities Network - a growing group of more than 55 UK-based universities working together with the ambition of bringing tangible results to the UN COP26 Climate Change Conference (Glasgow, Scotland, November 2021), was held from May 17th to 21st, 2021.

The conference was sponsored by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), with the support of UN Climate Change Conference UK 2021, Italy and Cambridge University Press and CRUI - Conference of Italian University Rectors and it has been included in the Programme “All4Climate – Italy 2021”.

At a critical juncture in the COP26 pre-meetings and negotiations – six months prior to the conference itself – Climate Exp0 presented the latest thinking and most relevant international research in the run-up to COP26 around five key themes: Adaptation and Resilience; Finance and Regulation; Green Recovery; Mitigation Solutions; and Nature-based Solutions.

Addressing a different theme each day, across three virtual stages, Climate Exp0 included 760 speakers, involved more than 80 people in the organization, and saw more than 5,200 people registered to follow the conference from 159 countries

Keynote speakers included President of COP26, The Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP; the Italian Minister for ecological transition, Minister Roberto Cingolani; the Italian Minister for Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility, Minister Enrico Giovannini; Italian Minister of University and Research, Minister Maria Cristina Messa.

During the final event titled "Ask a Climate Change expert: How can we save our planet?", experts on the topic of climate change answered questions from the audience offering insights into what we can do to change our behaviors and live more sustainably.
