The second annual RUS Congress was organized at the Polytechnic University of Bari on June 29, 2018. The topic of the meeting was "The Role of Italian Universities for the Sustainable City".

With this second appointment, the Network proposed to continue reflecting on the commitment of Italian universities to sustainable development, looking at it against the background of the secular university-city relationship and orienting it towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, also by comparing notes with other institutional realities of the country engaged in this challenge of the contemporary city. This shared commitment is aimed at allowing the start of a process of shared reflection in view of the implementation of the Bologna Charter for the Environment, signed by Mayors and representatives of the Metropolitan Cities, gathered in Bologna on June 8, 2017 at the meeting of Environment Ministers of the G7 countries.

Following there was the General Assembly of the Network, open only to RUS members.
